R3D2 is a business consultancy based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire owned by Rich.

Rich helps businesses create strategic visibility by working directly with owners, directors, senior leaders and their teams.

Working with them to build their internal capability, structure and create the momentum needed to raise the visibility of their business and generate sustained and measurable growth and opportunities.

He doesn’t just advise – he embeds into your business, mentors your people and ensures delivery happens in practice, not just on paper.

  1. Learn Something New – Meet Someone NewIn whatever I do or wherever I go these are two non-negotiables. Ticking these boxes allows me to grow as a person and to grow my network. If I don’t do at least one of those then that event or arena isn’t for me.
  2. Always Give Something BackGiving back is vital to me! Everything I do has to have an emotional element to it. Therefore, giving back is core to me and helping even just one person is enough for me, but the bigger picture is my work in the commercial and voluntary sectors does have impact on groups of people, businesses and communities alike.
  3. Don’t Be LateThis is such a key value to me – being on time shows responsibility, respect, and discipline. When a person is not late, they demonstrate that they value other people’s time and take their commitments seriously. Punctuality helps build trust because others can depend on someone who arrives on time. Being punctual creates a positive impression and can lead to better opportunities and stronger relationships. Overall, not being late is an important habit that reflects good character and professionalism
  4. Two ears one mouthWhilst working at Sheffield Chamber I learned to listen to people when meeting them with the ratio of having two ears and one mouth. This allowed me to get to know the person, the issues and pain points they have in their business and how I can help refer them into others.
  5. Relationships with people are so importantPeople buy people – building relationships with people is key to all areas of life but in business it’s vital to me. Building a relationship comes before being direct for me and that means getting to know their kids or pets’ names, the Football team they support and so on.
  6. Ask the Question at the Right TimeAs part of building relationships face to face it’s key to know when to ask the question about buying from you. Touch points come into this and the more you have with them the more likely they will want to work with you.
  7. Be true to yourself and your valuesI’m always authentically me with everyone I meet – you do have to morph to your surroundings at times. However, I’m always Rich and strongly believe people buy people – not everyone will buy in but then they are the right person or client for you.
  8. Never let someone downIf I say I’m going to do something, I’ll do it – I value people’s time and their opinions. Never letting someone down is an important value because it shows honesty, reliability, and respect for others. Keeping my word helps build trust and shows that others can depend on me. It also reflects responsibility and strong character, as I understand that my actions can affect other people. By staying committed to what I promise, I create stronger relationships and demonstrate that I care about the people around me.
  9. Partnerships Are KeyStrong partnerships are the foundation of long-term success because they are built on trust, collaboration, and mutual respect. Rather than viewing relationships as simply client and supplier, I believe in working together as partners with shared goals and a common purpose. True partnerships involve open communication, reliability, and a commitment to supporting one another to achieve the best possible outcomes. By valuing each other’s expertise and contributions, both sides can build stronger relationships, solve challenges more effectively, and create lasting success together.
  10. If It’s Not Working Change ItIf something needs changing, change it'. Don't procrastinate and expect things to sort themselves out take control and change them! Following in the words of the great Henry Ford said “If you do what you always did, you’ll get what you always did”.

Who Are We?

R3D2 was conceived by our owner Rich Davies in May 2016 with roots going back as far as 2009.

Rich’s desire to give something back to the community in Sheffield that had given so much to him in all he does, is the driver. Giving back is core to all that Rich does and the values and principles that R3D2 stand for!

Going back to 2009 Rich got involved with a voluntary, and regulated, organisation in the Football industry that developed traction via Marketing activities from which the R3D2’s seeds were sewn.

Further down the line, when Rich encountered his career catalyst in 2015, he went to work for a Sheffield institution – Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Following 18 months at the Chamber Rich opened himself up to the business world in earnest and to connections in Sheffield and the wider community of South Yorkshire.

From this R3D2 was born on May 19th 2016 with the mission of raising the profiles of businesses via social media management and marketing.

But where did the name R3D2 come from? The company name was always going to have three R’s, or R3, in it as Rich had his children Rhys and Riley firmly in mind.

A creative agency friend suggested adding the D2 to the R3 giving it a familiar ring to the name of a famous robot. And the rest is history!

When Rich’s career really started to take shape, he had never properly networked – and honestly, he didn’t enjoy it.

Over time, that changed.

Some events he enjoyed, some he tolerated, and some still aren’t for him and along the way he gained two skills that have shaped his career:

Helping businesses move from a quiet presence to a visible, engaging, and trusted one. It was about showing up in the right way, in the right places and rooms, again and again.

And it’s become one of his strongest skills. It’s also why more people now know more about all of the businesses he worked for.

The best part? These skills are transferable across industries and environments and to people.
